    Nothing in particular.

The food was appalling. Bedroom was fine, water supply in the bathroom was excellent but the bath was too big and the handle grip for getting out was too far away making it dangerous! The toilet/seat were too small.

Authentic hotel with historic atmosphere. Fine restaurant with attentive staff.

We got an upgrade to a suite which was like a small apartment. Fantastic breakfast with terrific choice and helpful staff.

Very welcoming and helpful staff. Lovely room - although I should point out that I paid £61 for b & b through Booked.net for a room that the hotel advertise for £180! The only meal that I ate was breakfat but that was excellent.

the garden area and how quiet it was. the location was also fantastic

the TV was really bad quality

The manager handled a concern we had about an error in our booking in a very customer-friendly and expedited way. Very good service. Also the dinner service was first-rate.

The booking agent we used failed to pre-book our dinner, which meant that the hotel initially did not offer us the dinner discount. Quickly resolved by the hotel manager however.

The hotel was just off the high street so the location was excellent.Room was very atmospheric and very clean and tidy. The bathroom was large and very clean. An excellent place to stay to feel what life was like all those years ago but with modern day comforts.

Lovely olde worlde hotel . Dining room has fine aspect across garden & a.pleasant quiet ambience .Very attentive & courteous staff . Food excellent .

We would have preferred to have been in main building but , through booking on line , ( & ofcourse being discounted which we wanted ! ) we did not know of the annex . Annex is nicely appointed but not quite like main hotel building .

The history of the hotel and the surrounding area including the beautiful architecture.Decor and log fires were very welcoming. All in all it is a beautiful hotel. I had my handbag stolen in Oxford whilst staying there and the Manager sent a glass of champagne to my room which I thought was a nice touch. The Kempster Room is lovely with balcony and views overlooking the walled and very well kept garden. A special place for a special occasion. Excellent gourmet cuisine in restaurant representing excellent value - £90 for two including bottle wine.

The newspaper didn't arrive on the second morning and we had to ask for bath robes in the superior room we were staying in

Reception staf very good, good location, room nice size & clean.

attending function no staff visable, host had to ask for serice, clearing plates & glasses. Hairdyer out of testing

I really enjoyed staying at the Bay Tree Hotel - quaint building but nicely furnished inside. Instead of room numbers, there were names for each room. We stayed in the Wychford which was very confortable and tranquil. We ate dinner there which was very good value for money and the food was tasty. The chef also gave diners 3 complimentary course which was a bonus. The water melon ice was delicious. Staff at the hotel were friendly and efficient.

Only one bedside light. Too many difficult steps (I am partly disabled).

Very pleasant Staff who were always accomodating even though there didnt appear enough of them. Relaxing atmosphere. Our room OAK was large in sixe with a gorgous and very comfy 4 poster bed with a seperate living room and Jaccuzi bath, we were upgraded from our standard room booking. All in all a fab room that you didnt want to leave!. Parking was no problem right outside the Hotel or a seperate car park. Very handy for the town. The evening meal is very good value & although the menu doesnt change a greta deal is worth a visit for at least one evening.

Only slight problem was as our room overlooked the pavement there was a little noise from people leaving the Hotel at night & early in the Morning. I dont think this would be a problem when the windows are shut but we stayed when weather was very warm & all windows open.
